Initially founded in Nairobi, Kenya, AZA Finance started by facilitating foreign exchange between the Kenyan shilling and other currencies using Bitcoin. This method was chosen for its inclusivity and robustness despite limited resources. Over the years, the company has evolved to handle $50 million in transactions monthly, with only 10% involving Bitcoin and the rest in fiat currencies. AZA Finance now creates liquidity across various African currency pairs, such as Nigerian naira to Ghanaian cedi and Kenyan shilling to euro, demonstrating its significant growth and impact.
